About Me
Meet Clair Doan
Rooted in agriculture, be it family, farm or banking; I live on our Norwich area turkey and crop farm, work in the region as an Associate Vice President of Agricultural Banking at National Bank and most recently as a 2016 Nuffield Canada Scholar.
Professionally, I work in farm financial services, where it has provided a high level of satisfaction to support farm families in their goals of operating profitable businesses while producing quality food for consumers. Utilizing my B.Sc.(Agr) from the University of Guelph and Masters of Agribusiness from Kansas State University provided the educational framework to analyze, advise and encourage strategic thinking about farm business of today and the future. After working directly with farmers for the first 11 years of my career, I accepted a promotion which involves managing, coaching and building the qualities in my team members so they will provide the necessary advice farm businesses require.
On the farm, it has been many decisions involving investment, succession planning and determination which continues to guide our farm toward the future. Today, the farm is situated on two properties, purchased in 2006 and 2014 totalling 190 acres of land. Turkeys arrived on the farm in 2009 with a new grow out barn and subsequent addition and renovations to the brooding facilities in 2012 have positioned the farm for growth in the future. The one key component to Canadian turkey farming is that of quota for the right to produce, market and receive a fair rate of return; thus small acquisitions have occurred over time.
Like most Canadian family farms, our farm is our home. I have been married to my wife Kathryn for over 12 years and have three daughters Carmyn, Sophia and Charlotte. We are proud of the life we continue to build in Norwich, ON, Canada.
